An armed robber in Oshawa got more than he bargained for when a store clerk resisted during a heist on Ritson Road last Saturday.

Durham Regional Police investigators are seeking the identity and whereabouts of a lone suspect, armed with a handgun, who robbed a convenience store Saturday night in Oshawa.

On Saturday January 15, 2011 at approximately 8:40 p.m. officers from Central East Division responded to a convenience store robbery at JS Mart, located on Ritson Road South in Oshawa. A lone clerk was accosted by a lone male suspect, armed with a handgun, who threatened the clerk, demanding money. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect ran off in an easterly direction along Olive Avenue. The victim was not physically injured. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as: male, white, 5’ 5”, wearing black clothing including a balaclava and toque and carrying a white bag. The suspect produced a handgun described as black.
