Whitby sub shop attempted robbery PDF Print E-mail

Durham Regional Police are investigating after a masked male, armed with a knife, attempted to rob a Whitby restaurant last night.

On Monday, November 29, 2010 at about 10:20 p.m., a lone male entered the Subway Sub location on Dundas Street West in Whitby armed with a knife. He approached the counter demanding money and reached over the counter to gain entry into the cash register. Being unsuccessful, the male left the store and was last reported traveling in the direction of the White Oaks Apartment complex.

The area was searched by K-9 and divisional officers but the suspect was not located.

The suspect described as: male, white, 22 years of age, wearing a blue down filled jacket, black toque, blue pants, black gloves and a grey hoodie jacket worn under the coat. The suspects face was partially obscured with a piece of clothing.

No money was obtained and no injuries were reported. Anyone with information of assistance to investigators is asked to contact Det. Antaya of the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5361.
